going to a wedding-I

Few days ago, i went to a wedding. my mom sugessted that i wear mekhela chador. Since my pink mekhela chador had won me a pretty amount of compliments in the past i decided to wear it once again. ohh, how i loved the way i looked, with the dress and the jewellary and the makeup. Even my hair was looking good.

Even though i generally avoid both going to weddings and getting dolled up, i was feeling quite comfortable that day, maybe because my brother wasn't around. I had easily pushed a very old remark of mine to the back of my mind, when i had said that girls wear saree and mekhela chador to tell everyone they are ready for marriage market. i had thought myself to be very progressive at that time and vowed never to wear such dresses.

Alas, but never sometimes lasts only a couple of years. once u have graduated, u are a grown-up. And there are only so many appropriate outfits u can were to weddings. So i surrendered to my fate, and started wearing the "only acceptable dress for a Post-graduate Assamese girl going to a wedding" i.e. mekhela chador to weddings.
( clarifications: i dont hate the dress. i m extremely proud of it, and prefer it to saree. but dont like the grown-up and ready for marriage market tags that come with it).
So, although i was wearing it happily, somewhere in my mind was a fear lurking about what message people might think i am sending.(to be continued)
